Okay, campers, rise and shine, and don’t forget your booties because it’s COOOLD out there, today were going to review the brand new movie Ground Hog day. Since it comes out in 10 days we got a special viewing of the movie so if you want to see the movie SPOILER ALERT ahead.

The movie starts with Phil Connors on his nightly weather show telling his veiwers that ther will not be a blizzard in the Pittsburg area, after his weather segment is over he discusses that he will be going to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania for the 4th year in a row to cover the Ground Hog Day celebrations in the small town. He travels there with his producer Rita and cameraman Larry. The celebrations are covered and phil can’t wait to get home, but the blizzard he predicted missing Pennsylvania doesn’t actually miss and Phil is forced to stay in Punxsutawney one more night. Phil wakes up on what he believes to be February 3rd, but it is actually the same day he went to sleep on, Phils goes through the day in complete confusion, the same events keep repeating and he doesn’t know why. After a few repeates of the same day Phil starts not caring abot his actions, he stars drinking and driving, just doing dangerous things because there are no consiquences, after some time doing this Phil gets depressed and tries to kill himself in several different ways. This stooper ends after he spends the day with Rita, he convinces her of his repetition of February 2nd and they have a wonderful day together, this day changes Phils thinking and he starts using his situation to better himself and the town. At the end of the film Phil is eager to go to the Ground Hog day festivities and he gives a beautiful speech and uses all his newly aquired knowledge to help the people around the town. His day ends with the Ground Hog day afterparty where at the end Rita “buys” him for charity, they spend the rest of the day together and fall asleep at phils lodge. Phil wakes up to the same song he has always woken up to, but it’s different, he looks to his side and see’s Rita still there and is extremely happy that the time loop is over.

Phil Connors is played by Bill Murray, Rita Hanson is played by Andie MacDowell, and was directed by Harold Ramis. The director Harold Ramis was a writer for the original Ghost Busters movies and played Dr. Egon Spengler, in Ground Hog Day he plays the neurologist Phil talks to early in the movie. Ramis died in 2014 at age 69.

I personally love this movie, something about it is just very fun and rewatchable, one of my favorite scenes is the sequence with Phil trying to save the old man, this whole section shows how much Phil changes from the begining where he pretends to not have cash for the man, to activley getting him food and a nice place to stay.

I highly recommend this movie, it is a very wholesome movie in the end, and it has an overall message of caring for others while you can. 9/10.
